Sox is a major character in the 2022 Disney animated film, Lightyear. He is Buzz's robotic cat friend who accompanies him on his missions.

Background

Physical appearance

Sox resembles a ginger and white robot cat with green eyes and wears a blue collar with his name engraved on a tag. He has light pink inner ears and a slightly crooked tail.

Personality

By design, Sox is selfless, caring, and extremely devoted to Buzz as he looks to improve his health by any means necessary, and will willingly go to great lengths to achieve his programmed goal. Though highly knowledgeable in the medical field, he also knowledgeable on suitable fuel source, even if took him over 62 years.

Sox is very calm, even in dangerous situations even if he was terrified of space, he was still willing to come out of his comfort zone. At the start of the film, Sox lacked understanding of human emotion—reason being, he lacked human emotion himself, as his only concern was to provide Buzz with effective healthcare to the best of his ability and if Buzz went out of line. He would use a tranquilizer dart to stop him.

After meeting more people, however, Sox slowly began to change. Observant and impressionable, he steadily picked up human tendencies and emotions, and eventually gained a definitive personality of his very own.
